I realize I’m getting this review of my year out there late. But better late than never, right? Thankfully, (though perhaps it should be), improving on my punctuality was not one of my resolutions for 2010.
Here’s the thing: These year-end lists? They can consume photographers’ brains. We’re all, “I should do a montage of my year” but then realize the work that entails and decide, “Then again, maybe not.” So this is what I did — I gave myself 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes, I allowed myself to pull images from all the folders I could find on my hard drives, hoping I’d nab shots of every client and a few personal photos along the way. (In doing so, I felt like one of those people who has 2 minutes in one of those whirly wind machines where they can snatch up as much money as possible. Random story: I actually got to do that in junior high. I was the top seller for some ridiculous fund-raiser where I sold more peanut brittle than everyone else in my grade or something like that … when it came to a contest where stuffing money down my shirt was the prize, I was nothing if not DETERMINED to win
)
Back to my ‘09. Can I just say I had one hell of a year? It’s my blog, so ‘course I can say it. I HAD ONE HELL OF A YEAR. To my clients who trusted me with the moments in their life that deserved to be documented, I say “Thank you.” To new friends I met in ‘09, I say “When can we meet up again?” To old friends I saw not enough of in ‘09, I say “When can we meet up again?” And to the year 2010, if you treat me half as good as 2009 did, I say, “Well now, we’re in for a treat.”
Enjoy the show ….
