Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

Alyson and Matt: Sneak Peek

I had the best of intentions of getting this sneak peek from my INCREDIBLE wedding on Saturday up on the blog last night. But then one of my favorite artists swooped into Indy and I had to drop everything to go see him (whereupon, after an awesome show, I made the conclusion I now have...

Booking the flight is all that stops us now

It came a few weeks ago in the mail. An official looking envelope. Inside, the familiar navy blue of a passport stamped with “United States of America” in gold. Inside that, a garish image of myself taken by a 20-something photo clerk at the local Walgreen’s who had to remind me, “Ma’am DO NOT SMILE”...

Salty sea love, Werner style

Time to wrap these vacation posts up with a bit of love — both for my family and the peace and tranquility that was our 4 days in Hilton Head.
First up, the view Nick and I woke up to every morning from the sliding screen door of our third floor bedroom’s balcony. NOTHING beats waking...

Y’all, I have fallen in love …

With a city by the name of Charleston.
We drove all night (did that Celine Dione lyric go through your head just now too?) to make it into Charleston utterly sleep-deprived last Thursday. But did that stop us from putting our tourist game faces on come Friday? No way, y’all. In the less than 24 hours...

A conversation recently overheard in the Werner house

[It's past midnight and the pair of us are trying to fall asleep]
Me: “Ugh. I soo shouldn’t have taken that nap tonight.”
Nick: “You ALWAYS take naps. Then you wonder why you can’t fall asleep.”
Me: “I can’t help it. 7 o’clock is like the bewitching hour for me. I always get sleepy if I’m on the...

Need some music for that slideshow? Check out Mettaaudio!

Y’all know my friend Betsy (she DID give me a great kick-off to this new blog!) And you might just remember her son, Miles, and her hubby, John, from that great family session of theirs. But what many of you don’t know is that John is a composer. HOW COOL IS THAT? I love that...

I really love …

Dave Eggers’ new book, Zeitoun.

I’ve been a fan of Eggers for some time now, from his debut novel, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, to his more recent What is the What, the story of a real-life Sudanese refugee (Valentino Achak Deng). It’s a novel that breaks your heart and lifts you up, all at...

Let’s take a ride to the seaside …

“Let’s take a ride to the seaside / We can go out swimming in the high tide / Just wear your shorts and your long hair / Don’t forget the lawnchair”.
Come 5 o’clock tonight, the plan is for Nick and I to take off, windows down, kayak on top of the Subaru, playing this song...

Jen and Josh: The Engagement

Rain, rain GO AWAY. I just had to cancel a session on account of rain, and on the evening Jen, Josh and I met up for their photos, I spent the whole ride down to Indianapolis craning my neck to fret over the ominous clouds that hung low in the sky. Thankfully, they didn’t dump...

Humiliating to her, humorous to me

Oh there is probably a circle of hell reserved for people like me. The type who take pictures of their animals when they’re suffering. But come on. You’re grinning at this, right?
Trust me, when you see a dog in a cone in a person — especially when it’s your dog — there’s that big chunk...
