I can’t remember who first told me that my husband looked a smidge like the VERY attractive Jon Hamm, star of the AMC hit, Mad Men. I’ve documented that comparison once before on here, just as I’ve mentioned a time or two how much my husband and I just adore the show.
The infatuation I have for Mad Men explains why this year, for the first year in many, I got REALLY excited about costumes for Halloween. See, normally I suck in this department. I’m that person who ever year, waits ’til the night of and then throws together something black and cat burglar-esque because it’s all I have. Nick, on the other hand, takes this holiday VERY seriously. One year, he pulled together a mummy costume that would have made King Tut jealous in the grave.
Nick told me if we were gonna make Don and Betty Draper (the stars of Mad Men) “work”, there were two conditions: 1) I had to find the perfect dress and 2) he had to find the perfect suit. He scored the suit at Goodwill and I got lucky while I was in Santa Barbara and found a gem of a gown in a fabulous vintage shop.
But here’s where Nick underestimated things. He was all, “But seriously, do I really look like him? I mean, aren’t I just going to look like a guy in a suit?” To which I say, INTERNET OMG MY HUSBAND IS DON DRAPER.

A couple weeks ago, AMC’s Mad Men site was holding a contest where they wanted people to send in their best Mad Men-esque photos and the winner would get a walk-on role on the show. OOOOHHHH how I wish I had taken these photos before then!

Betty, meet Don
(and for the record, I don’t condone smoking, have never smoked a cigarette in my life, but must ‘fess up to finding my husband INCREDIBLY sexy in this shot)

And for those who’ve never seen the show, here was our inspiration (from the AMC Mad Men Web site):
