Alyson and Matt: The Wedding

I knew Alyson and Matt first as friends in high school and now as husband and wife. It’s funny, isn’t it, how sometimes the person you were meant to be with was that same someone who had a locker 20 feet from you for 12 years of your life?

Alyson and Matt didn’t date in high school, but it was during the speech of Matt’s best friend, Mike, that I realized these two had a connection that predated the years in which I’d gotten know them. Theirs was a spark that went back to grade school and it was Mike’s words as he talked about Matt having a schoolyard crush on Alyson that reminded me that sometimes those predictions we make as kids really do come true.

Alyson and Matt, yours was a wedding day filled with laughter and celebration and more than a few relatives who liked to boogie down . This is one GOOOODDDD looking couple (don’t get mad at me for saying this you guys, but you’re bound to have pretty babies )

Alyson and Matt opted for a first look, seeing each other before the ceremony. It’s such a great way to get the jitters out of the way and I gotta admit, as the photographer, it was nice not to have that panicky moment where you’re trying to sneak around getting photos and suddenly you’re afraid the groom is around and everyone is all “HIDE THE BRIDE! HIDE THE BRIDE!”

These are Alyson’s cutie-patootie nephews and they helped me with the family photos by making sure everyone knew to SAY CHEESE!

Oh these boys … they were a handful. I believe at one point, I pulled out a granny-ism on ‘em and said (out loud), “You guys are a hoot!” and no joke, from somewhere in the crowd I seriously think I heard, “A hoot? Well, now I’ve never been called that before …” I know, I know … I’m a giant dork. Sorry boys!

I’ve been to a lot of weddings and part of a lot of grand exits, but confetti was a first for me and it was SO fun! Kudos to Alyson’s family members who sucked it all up within 20 minutes of taking these photos.
