Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

I love long walks on the beach. And taking photos — OF COURSE.

Now offering custom-designed client guest books

I’m introducing a new line of both guest books and albums starting with my 2010 brides and I’m so excited to play a game of show-and-tell with all of you!
When Nicole contacted me shortly after her fall engagement session about wanting a guest book, I happily reported I was in the process of seeking a...

A new and improved 101 in 1001

Way back when, a few months after I first started following the blog of the talented mentor and friend, Melissa Jill, I borrowed (not stole, ’cause Melissa’s the first to encourage you to share in this industry ), the idea of adapting a 101 in 1001 list.
What, exactly, is that? Many of you...

Help me banish the winter blues

Today marked the first day I’ve ran in 10 days (thanks to last week’s evil bug). It also marked the first time I’ve been outdoors to run all year. If you live in the Midwest or are a follower on the East Coast, well, you know about this thing we’ve been trying to get rid...

Unanticipated take aways from an Avett Brothers concert

1) Be yourself.
What do we do as creative types? We compare ourselves to everybody else out there who’s chasing the same dream. As photographers, none of us are going to be Nate and Jaclyn Kaiser or Jasmine Star. There’s only one of ‘em. Musicians know they’re never going to be Queen or The Rolling...

The Werners’ Chick Flick Rule

I’m sure a few ladies out there will “Tsk tsk” me over my thoughts on this one, but as I head out tonight with girlfriends for Mexican food and a showing of “Valentine’s Day,” I couldn’t help but share. You see, in every couple’s relationship, there are quirky rules. And one of them in the...

Fighting the flu

“I’llbeokayI’mjustgonnaliedownforaminute.” That’s what I remember telling Nick last night before I flopped over on the couch last night around 7, letting the waves of a nasty flu bug envelope me.
It was that kind of sick where you can’t get up from the sofa, the TV is on the entire time, and you have long stretches...

February Self-Portrait: Reflections on a Birthday

At some point today the clock will turn and tell me it’s my birthday. That on this date, in 1982, I was born. And that I’m now officially 28 years old. (Which, seriously, How did that happen?).
If I could make one wish (because that’s what people tell you to do on your birthday), it’d involve...

What I’m Lovin’ Round-up: Take 2

Here it is crew, another take on what it is I’m loving as of late. And for all of you who’ve stumbled on to my blog in recent weeks, I know it’s been absent of client photos. I promise, I AM still a photographer. And my season will pick up again starting in March. For...

Embracing frugality on this Valentine’s Day

This year, for Valentine’s Day, there will be no cards.
No roses. No jewelry. No fancy meal out.
Instead there will be dreams of macaroons split on a summer afternoon in Paris.
And cake.
Specifically, this cake.
And that, my friends, will be more than enough to satisfy us.

See more of Gail’s work at www.gailwernerphoto.com. Friend Gail on Facebook. Follow...

An Open Letter to My Right Index Finger

Dear Right-Hand Index Finger,
First of all, let me apologize. I was in a hurry. Trying to toss the chicken, peppers and onions for those fajitas on a scalding hot skillet AND attempting to multi-task? That was dumb of me. I shouldn’t have tried to cut open that pack of Organic Valley cheddar at the same...
