Our first stop was Plum Island, Massachusetts. With all the weather-beaten cottages, the beach and its salty sea air and a town full of summer revelers, I realized just how magical (as Gwyn puts it) summer in New England can be!

Gwyn described these two as so good-looking, they could model for J.Crew (a store they happen to love). Yeah, she SO wasn’t lying!LOVE THIS (favorite)

After the beach, we headed into Amesbury, Massachusetts. Now, all these quaint towns Gwyn kept taking me to blend together in my head as one awesome experience, but here’s why I’ll remember Amesbury: Because it’s where I was introduced to Flatbread Pizza Company. Gwyn called this pizza “life changing” and well, yeah….it seriously was that good. I’m already craving it again! After we chowed down, we walked around and shot some more … easy peasy with a couple as fun as this! I shot with my telephoto a lot on this shoot to stay out of Gwyn’s way and I had fun experimenting with lots of negative space and composition. I particularly like this one!I think these two give good “snuggle face” Gwyn, thanks for letting me tag along on this shoot! It’s SO much fun shooting for other people and exploring new places and meeting new people — all my favorite things!

So cute and snuggly, these two

I love these two in black and white. I left them alone for a while and just shot away and they look so peaceful here … you would have thought I was paparazzi in the bushes stalking an unknowing couple ; ) I showed off this spot in the sneak peek but gosh darn it if I don’t love it just as much in black and white. I loved these purple flowers … my grandma used to have a bunch in her garden. A fun backdrop for portraits, eh?

Sarah, you look SO gorgeous here! You are going to make a beautiful summer bride! I love to ask couples to do this pose— what do I mean by this pose? Where the guy tries to lift his woman on his back. It almost ALWAYS fails, but it’s so fun and I usually get some silliness in the process. Totally worth it and thanks for playing along you two!

On the bus ride back from NYC Saturday afternoon, we watched as the sky out our windows turned from bright cheery blue to dark ominous gray and the forecast to rain—and lots of it. By the time we made it back, those plans we’d made? Yeah, TOTALLY tossed out the window. We caught a train back to Chestnut Hill (the adorable rustic suburb where they live), a quick change of clothes were made and we were back out the door.

Forty five minutes later, we had these images and an order of Chinese food ready for pick-up. Not bad for two planners forced for a change to improvise

WATCH TINA AND JAY’S SLIDESHOW

Since I got to spend three days with Tina and her sweet-as-can-be Jay, I had a comfort level with them I usually don’t have going in to a shoot with other couples. It made everything a breeze. Love these two!

As we were walking past, Tina pointed to this cute cafe and said she and Jay would eat breakfast here sometimes. So, naturally, I wanted to get a few of them in front of the place! This alley was fun. Tina and I were trying to coach Jay on how to stand with his hip cocked out. Two photographers trying to tell a fella what to do? Jay, no WONDER you were confused! But thanks for being such an awesome sport! FAVORITE

I think everything about these next two are just gorgeous. The light, the colors, the people—love it all!

I love how playful you two can be together. And Tina, I love seeing you so in love. You just radiant happiness in every frame!

Hilary and Tim, I apologize for the delay! You guys have been so patient and I REALLY appreciate that! I hope you guys find these worth the wait!! This was one of the first photos I fired off at our session and it looked this good straight out of the camera. Ummm … yeah, these guys are THAT ridiculously good looking! Can you picture ‘em in formal wear? I CAN’T WAIT!!!

Oh, you know, just two people. Working it. In an abandoned parking lot … that’s all I have to say ’bout this photograph.

Okay, so am I the only one who LOVES the winter GAP ad campaigns? I mean, seriously, that company’s marketing team is GENIUS this time of year. I am still in love with last year’s campaign, and when I asked Hilary and Tim if we could recreate a pose with one of my favorite Hollywood gents, they happily obliged. The results? Perfect!

I love when I take a couple down a back alley and find a goodie like this wall here. To whoever counted down whatever it is you were counting down, I say thank you for giving me a wicked cool background!

I spent two hours with Kinsi and Jeff and in the time I got to know them, I could tell that is the kind of people they are. Real. Genuine. Sweet as can be.

And you know what’s great about that? It shows in these photographs. Sometimes I’m so moved to look at images like these and to see the little ways in which a couple love one another. A stolen embrace when they think I’m not watching or a whisper in one another’s ear. It’s the little things like this that spell love to me. And Kinsi and Jeff’s love? Yep, it’s real too. We all need to remember there’s still a kid inside each of us. It’s times like these that I encourage my clients’ to let it out.

We ventured next to Kinsi’s aunt’s house, which, with all the dogs and cats and chickens and horses, was a menagerie of sorts. Kinsi spent some time out West and just seemed to have a way with her aunt’s horse. She also was wearing a sweet pair of cowboy boots she bought at a vintage shop out in Wyoming so you know, combining a love of thrift store finds with an instinct for nature made her my kind of girl

If you couldn’t tell here, Kinsi is one of those gals who have like, THE BEST SMILE EVER. I kept telling her that and Jeff proudly exclaimed, “She was voted ‘Best Smile’ in high school.” Yep, I can see that!

This embrace is the way every woman wants to be held by her man. FAVORITE!

Okay, okay, I lied. I have TWO favorites. I’m sorry, this photo is just awesome. And it’s not ’cause of me. It’s ’cause it’s these two. And they’re sexy. And because of Kinsi’s hair. KINSI, I WANT YOUR CURLS

BUT, I’m TOTALLY gonna prove Kinsi wrong with this blog post here. You see, Kinsi and Jeff arrived for our engagement session being their adorable selves right from the get-go. As they tumbled out of the car and we started canvassing spots for our shoot, the pair laughed together, holding hands, as they talked about how awkward having their pictures taken could be. “I mean, the problem is, we’re just not very photogenic,” Kinsi told me. Ahem …. folks, now, this just a sneak peek of all that is to come, but let’s all join together in one collective “SERIOUSLY?!”

Lots more to come from this fun session (including a visit with a horse!). Lots of processing to do until then, so I’ll look forward to coming back to work on these photos to bask in that beautiful bit of fall we got to enjoy before everything turned so… well, BROWN.

When I first met this couple, I just knew I wanted to be there on their special day. I kept my fingers crossed they’d book me but of course wanted them to take the time needed to make their decision (it’s a big one after all!) I told Ashley to friend me on Facebook in the meantime, and shortly after that, couldn’t resist commenting on a photo I spotted of Twilight star Rob Pattinson on her profile. UMMMM YEAH. If I hadn’t thought we clicked earlier, we DEFINITELY clicked then. And so, a few days after that, when I got the e-mail from Ashley telling me that she and Justin wanted to book me, I loved the P.S. she tagged on at the end letting me know that if her mind wasn’t already made up, well, I had her with our mutual love of all things Twilight

So Ashley, thanks to being not only a client but a new-found friend and I hope you two enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed editing them. Make sure to click HERE to see their slideshow (if you do you’ll catch a shared love for the same awesome band too )

This pooch was Ashley’s parents (sorry Ashley, I forget his name!) and it followed us around for part of our shoot. I had asked Ashley and Justin to pose against this door frame and bale of hay, but somebody else decided he was going to test the light first for us! I wanted to give him his 15 seconds since he’s so adorable and all …

WOW. Just …. wow.

I love this photograph. How sweet Ashley looks and how dashing Justin looks. It’s one of those “Yep, they’re made for each other” images.

I was at home editing this session and my mom snuck a peek and over these two exclaimed, “He could be a movie star.” Love you mom!

Ashley’s dad was working around the farm during the shoot and he kept insisting there was no place good to shoot on the farm. Sir, I respectfully disagree!
