Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

#62 … check and mark! (and a June self-portrait)

#62) Hang up a hammock in the backyard
Growing up, there were two places I always dreamed would be the PERFECT place to read a book. A window seat like this. Annndddd a hammock. There wasn’t a window seat in my childhood home. And the nylon version of a hammock that stood on a stand in...

10 years gone … just like that

Tonight I’ll head back to Fort Wayne to spend time with high school classmates, some of whom I haven’t seen since we walked across that stage together at graduation on a hot June night back in 2000. I remember, when I was a teenager, watching “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” and thinking that...

Ke$ha, your music is my (obnoxious) summer drug

I don’t know what comes over me but it starts around this time of year, every year. My normal “Top 40 cynical” self starts turning the radio up when a Ke$sha song comes on in the car. And then the windows come down. And before you know it, I’m belting out right along with her...

My newest obsession: Pictorymag.com

I love when you find something on the Internet, something that’s SO good that within 5 minutes you go from, “Eh, this is just another Web site to THIS IS THE COOLEST SITE EVER”.
And then you’re like, “I have GOT to tell someone about this.” And then you email your best friend at work and...

How to have an awesome time in New York City

Get lucky taking a cab driven by a fella who disproves your theory all NYC cabbies have a death wish for their passengers. Feel a little breathless crossing into the city on the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Spend the next few hours walking around the Upper East Side, taking photos of the Guggenheim, Central Park, statues...

Too much of a good thing

I used to wonder if I’d ever get sick of traveling. It’s become such a part of my late 20s, something I love to do so very much. Because of this, I’d think to myself, “Nahhh…no way. Not possible. There could never be too much of this kind of good thing.”
After the week I’m coming...

P90(e)X(hausted) (and a May self-portrait)

“Gail, will you work out with me tonight?” he asks. “It’s just, you know, we bought these tapes and you said you’d do them with me and it’s cardio tonight and…”
Every ounce of me that’s been pummeled by a week with shoot after shoot on top of a day job on top of an overwhelming...

The proof I needed …

For most of my weddings, I’m hired as a one-gal show. If I do have someone accompany me, it’s in the role of assistant, never a second shooter. That all changed earlier this month when Courtney Reece accompanied me as second shooter to my most recent wedding. You know how people always talk about how...

East Coast Recap: NYC (did that REALLY happen?!)

When I travel, I embrace my inner tourist. I walk down streets and let loose shrieks of delight when I spot buildings and attractions I’ve admired in books and movies. I pull out one of my handy dandy miniature guidebooks every 3 blocks to, you know, see if there was anything in those last 40...

East Coast Recap: Philly

Lately, I’ve been prone to thinking about how much my camera has influenced my life. It’s not magic or anything like that ( just a tool to create the images I do) but one without which I’d have missed out on SO many wonderful things over the past two years. For instance, if there was...
