Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

Royal Wedding Party: Did you watch? ‘Cause of COURSE we did!

To the people who’ve done nothing but complain about Royal Wedding coverage, well, you might want to just stop reading right here…. ’cause it’s gonna get all monarch-y up in this here house!!! (whoa…where did THAT come from? Sleep deprivation people…TOTALLY sleep deprivation.)
Sooo….Friday morning I woke up WAYYYY earlier (like, 3:30 early) so I could...

I helped build a house!

Some of you have asked me to report back on how things went going social-media free for a week. So I thought I’d hijack the subject of this post for a minute to give a few insights: 1) I missed it — a lot. Going without social media for 7 days was a good opportunity...

Women Who Inspire: My Sister

Earlier this month, I’d spotted a story over on NPR that caught my attention: A query to submit your photos of women who inspire you in honor of March being Women’s History Month.
I took the story as a prompt to talk over here on the blog about someone who means the world to me...

Creativity and the Unconscious

A few weeks back I read a book called “The Courage to Create” by Rollo May. At times, I was totally engrossed. At others, well, I’m not gonna lie. Rollo lost me. But those passages that had me really had me. And one of them addressed the idea of how, to be at our best...

For Japan With Love

I was in New York City last week when I heard news about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Here I’d gone to bed in my hotel room, high on the experience of having hung out with a fun group from Ball State, hob-nobbin’ with a Broadway star, and it was about 2 a.m. before...

An afternoon in Red Rock Canyon

I’d be remiss if I didn’t wrap up last month’s trip out to Vegas with a blog post about our visit out to Red Rock Canyon. The place was so gorgeous in its desert-y kind of way. Great word, right? Desert-y. But you know what I mean — giant rocks everywhere, yucca plants, that baked...

#49) Attend WPPI (and a recap!)

#49) Attend WPPI
Oh my…it’s not too late to post up a recap of my WPPI experience is it? I figured if I don’t do it now, then it’ll be 2012 already and I’ll be packing my bags for the next one! Whew…bare with me folks, it has been a whirlwind of activity since getting back...

IKEA + McSweeney’s: When two of my loves unite

Over the weekend, I paid a visit with my mother-in-law to the IKEA in Cincinnati (the West Chester store for those of you who are local). I had purchases in mind related to this living room remodel I’m still steamrolling forward with (I look myself in the mirror every day and say, “Gail, the time...

Ask to see my hubby dance, and you shall receive

It feels like a lifetime ago I blogged about my husband participating in a local charity dance contest. I’d asked if y’all wanted to see a video of how his performance went and, thanks to the resounding “YES” I heard in return, decided to go ahead and share this with you guys.
I had someone ask...

Remembering my grandmother

This has most definitely been one of the most difficult weeks of my life, one filled with extreme highs and lows of the kind that make me feel as though I’ve lived not seven days, but seven years. I flew out last Sunday to my first-ever WPPI, celebrating my 29th birthday with dear friends in...
