Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

For Japan With Love

I was in New York City last week when I heard news about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Here I’d gone to bed in my hotel room, high on the experience of having hung out with a fun group from Ball State, hob-nobbin’ with a Broadway star, and it was about 2 a.m. before...

An afternoon in Red Rock Canyon

I’d be remiss if I didn’t wrap up last month’s trip out to Vegas with a blog post about our visit out to Red Rock Canyon. The place was so gorgeous in its desert-y kind of way. Great word, right? Desert-y. But you know what I mean — giant rocks everywhere, yucca plants, that baked...

#49) Attend WPPI (and a recap!)

#49) Attend WPPI
Oh my…it’s not too late to post up a recap of my WPPI experience is it? I figured if I don’t do it now, then it’ll be 2012 already and I’ll be packing my bags for the next one! Whew…bare with me folks, it has been a whirlwind of activity since getting back...

The power of workshops

About six months after I came back in 2009 from attending Melissa Jill’s MJ 2 Day Workshop (an experience I blogged about here), I had someone email me the following:
I just recently discovered your blog and I think it’s great! I started from the beginning of your archives to present.  I...

New images, same fresh lookin’ Web site

I’ll be honest and say I’m like a lot of other photographers out there who build a Web site. And then, once it’s built, promptly forget about it. Kind of like, “It’s there now, so I can let it be, right?” Which is so silly of me to think, but it’s easy to let the...

The hours of my day

I spend so many months of the year working and dreaming about this particular season. When life slows down and I’m cooped inside because there’s four inches of snow on the ground and being outdoors is miserable. It’s a summer conversation that plays out in my head when I’m neck deep in editing and have...

WPPI 2011: I’m going. Are you going? Let’s meet!

If you’re a photographer who’s been active in the industry for a while, chances are you’re familiar with WPPI. It’s the biggest convention and trade show for photographers in the industry and, for the past few years, I’ve sat sidelined, feeling a bit like the one person on the planet who didn’t make it to...

How Facebook corralled me into creating a fan page

For a long time now I’ve been comfortable posting my photography work to my personal Facebook page. I didn’t want to create a business page because a) it’d be one more thing for me to update and b) who isn’t a smidge annoyed by all the random messages they get from people they don’t know...

The proof I needed …

For most of my weddings, I’m hired as a one-gal show. If I do have someone accompany me, it’s in the role of assistant, never a second shooter. That all changed earlier this month when Courtney Reece accompanied me as second shooter to my most recent wedding. You know how people always talk about how...
