Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

April Self-Portrait: Oh boy (or girl) are we excited for fall!

I feel like I can finally let out a big ‘ol secret and that’s to announce that Nick and I are expecting a baby! We stayed mum until I was safely out of my first trimester but now that we’ve heard our little one’s heartbeat, told both of our families over Easter (which was SUCH...

March Self-Portrait: Me and the Bean

Friends, ever try REALLY hard to like someone? Or something? Or some place that so many people gush about loving and how they can’t wait to move there that you feel like you need to share the love too? Yeahhhh…that’s me and Chicago. Sigh. Every time I pay a visit, I do so with an...

February Self-Portrait 2012: A few thoughts on turning 30

Earlier this week I turned 30. That’s a big number, yeah? Except, it didn’t feel all that big of a deal to me. Not until others started making it so.
There were reminders from friends. “So, how does it feel to spend your last week in your 20s?” Moments that made me pause and think, “Oh...

January Self-Portrait 2012: The Beauty in the Break

On the one hand, I want to join everyone who likes to bitch and moan about winter. “I’m so sick of this snow” and “When is it going to get warm again?” are as much a common refrain in the Werner house as any other Midwestern home this time of year.
On the other hand, I...

December Self-Portrait: A Very Pinterest Christmas

Thinking back to unwrapping Christmas gifts with Nick this year makes me laugh all over again. You see, this year, I didn’t really want anything. I was horrible about giving my husband hints on what to get me, but, about three weeks ago, he told me he had a few gifts in mind and smiled...

November Self-Portrait: A New Way of Seeing Things

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller
When I travel,  I truly believe I am the best version of me. There are those who loathe the idea of leaving home … of crowded airports and late flights and the confusion of intimidating new places. Not me. I...

October Self-Portrait: Hallelujah, it still fits!

I believe there are two camps of women in the handling of wedding dresses after the big day has come and gone: 1) the super cautious type who actually gets serious about its preservation, takes it to the cleaner, and then refuses to open it for 20 years in hopes her own child will someday...

September Self-Portrait: Getting My Geek On

Earlier this month, I walked into the library and was stopped in my tracks by this gorgeous display of portraits in front of me. “I geek acting.” “I geek gardening.” “I geek vampires.” What the? I wondered. Then I looked closer and realized this was a campaign of some sorts. And then I realized, it...

August Self-Portrait: My couch tour of California

Maybe it’s because God knows California has a special place in my heart. That, if I hadn’t put my roots down here in the Midwest (with a loving family, husband, friends and great jobs), that I’d be a West Coast girl in a white-hot minute. But since I’m not (and chances are, never will be),...

July Self-Portrait: A room with a view

It was some time last fall when I first suggested to Nick I should take my mother on a trip. His answer? “Why not?” (I love my husband’s carpe diem attitude—it’s one that truly rivals my own.) When I asked last December if she might be interested, the emphatic “Yes!” that fell out of her...
