Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

Help me banish the winter blues

Today marked the first day I’ve ran in 10 days (thanks to last week’s evil bug). It also marked the first time I’ve been outdoors to run all year. If you live in the Midwest or are a follower on the East Coast, well, you know about this thing we’ve been trying to get rid of. Yeah, that’s right. OLD MAN WINTER.

As I ran today, clothed in multiple layers, breathing frigid air, but feeling blessed because, hey, at least I had sunshine on my side, I thought about how much better it’d be to run in the sun when it’s nice out. Preferably in shorts. And as I ran, I thought about other, non-wintry things.

Here’s a random list of nine of ‘em. I’m a big fan of even numbers, so wanna help me out and leave a comment for ideas for No. 10? Tell me what YOU’RE most looking forward to about winter coming to an end. Because quite frankly, I think we’re all holding on to that shred of hope that spring is on its way. PURDDDYYYYY PLEASSSEEE SPRING BE ON YOUR WAY.

1) I’m so over this being my come-home-from-the-office work attire. A worn-out pair of GAP track pants I should really retire and any one of a number of my pairs of fuzzy socks. You know who else is probably over this unflattering attire? MY HUSBAND.

2) I’d love it if, you know, the next time I went to weather.com to check the forecast it involved a number that didn’t start with a 3.

3) I’d kiss the makers of these Isotoner mittens on the mouth because they are the best things I’ve ever stuffed my fingers into but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tired of toting them with me everywhere I go. And leaving one of ‘em at work. Or on the floor of my parking garage.

4) I wanna wear flip-flops again. ‘Nuff said.

5) I’m tired of looking at THIS. By this I mean the nasty inbred step-cousin to the pretty white fluffy stuff that’s so deceptively gorgeous. This is the gross stuff that lingers like the unwanted guest that it is, which is oddly making me think of this movie. (What can I say, I’m in a silly mood tonight).

6) I’m reallllyyyy looking forward to being a wedding photographer again :) (and bless your souls, y’all probably are too!)

7) I’d like to drive home to this view once more.

8 ) I want to take my dog on regular walks around the neighborhood. Bonus if this can be done while wearing No. 4.

9) And I’m dying for a big, juicy burger that’s fresh off the grill, plopped on a plate, and shared with Nick on our back patio, cold beers in hand.

March 3, 2010 - 8:34 pm Tira J - #10 I'd / You'd like to actually go outside and take a picture with that yummy sunset light! Today was the VERY FIRST day I had that kind of light in over two months, stay tuned. I totally hear ya! Hang in there, it's almost over.

March 3, 2010 - 8:55 pm Betsy Jo - Well, I can think of a #10 for you-- how about your trip to Europe, flip flops included? :) As for my own #10, can't wait for another trip to Cape Cod this summer. I've been getting itchy for warm weather, and it's showing on my blog-- dredging up all sorts of photos from our summer '09 vacation... Hey, whatever works, right?

March 3, 2010 - 9:04 pm Betsy - Can I get an AMEN sista! Yes. All of the above. I'm dressed like a homeless person all the time and I CANNOT wait to get those flip flops on!!! My bigggie? SUMMER DRESSES! I'm planning on buying one for ever day of the week and living in them until winter comes again. : )

March 3, 2010 - 9:46 pm Kelly - OMG! The Isotoner mittens!! They're the ONLY thing I wear! I bought a ton when the still had fleece in them, but this year all I could find were mittens stuffed with yucky fur! Ugh. #10 - CAMPFIRES! I'm a sucker for laying outside, looking up at the summer stars and having that lingering scent of woodsmoke in my hair for days on end!

March 3, 2010 - 10:18 pm Katelyn James - Such a cute post!!! :) Love it!

March 4, 2010 - 6:04 am Erin - YES! how about SKIRTS! i can not wait to wear a skirt - or dress - whichever floats your boat. :)

March 4, 2010 - 9:33 am Amanda - It's bad down south too. I told my husband earlier this week that one day this summer, when it's 90-plus, I'm going to sit outside in a chair all day. I don't care how hot I get or how much I sweat. I just want to feel warmth again. I had a dream last night that I was sunburned from being on the beach all day, and it was the most welcomed sunburn I've ever had.

March 5, 2010 - 8:13 am Leah - I cannot wait to buy patio furniture for our new house! It is the first time we have a patio, and I am going to be out there every single day with my laptop! The outdoors is going to be my office this summer.
