Oh there is probably a circle of hell reserved for people like me. The type who take pictures of their animals when they’re suffering. But come on. You’re grinning at this, right?
Trust me, when you see a dog in a cone in a person — especially when it’s your dog — there’s that big chunk of your heart that feels bad for them. That wants to cave and tear it off when they turn that pitiful “WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU MAKING ME WEAR THIS THING?” look on you.
But then there’s that tinier chunk — the one that catches your dog come ’round the corner wearing this ridiculous THING and at first you catch yourself grinning. Then laughing. Then running to grab the camera to document the occasion.

(A bit of background to this image: We’re getting ready to go on vacation and we’ll be boarding Daisy for the duration. She’s had a few spots (one on her tail, one on her front leg) that she won’t leave alone (curse those allergies and dogs’ incessant need to lick, lick, lick!) In a last-ditch effort to get them to heal, Nick and I made the mutual decision to give her The Cone Treatment. And yes I capitalize the phrase because it really does feel like THAT big of a decision on the rare occasion we have to submit her to this.)
Daisy, I promise we’re doing this for your own good! She’s pretty good at the stink eye, eh?
