Gail, hi! It’s Erin from OSP. I’ve perused your website it seems a million times, but somehow wasn’t yet subscribed to your blog! WELL, that mistake has been fixed. I totally love reading your thoughts, this post is gold. I think it is so easy for photographers to get so caught up in the formulaic processes and strict business side of marketing that they can forget that in the end, an effective brand is about a passionate connection with something that moves them. I think that’s why brands like Anthropologie are so successful.

Brands I love? Apple! For obvious reasons, I think. Converse, for the way they represent individuality. Most of the brands I really am drawn to are the ones that market a feeling more than a product… beauty, spirituality, individualism, nostalgia, etc.

Branding is one of the most important things you can do for your business. A little plug, if any photographers reading this are members of the [b]school, you should tune into yesterday’s Study Hall. [b]ecker had Tim from Red Door on there and talked all about branding. Gail, you rock! Love those caps.

i also really like how you are thinking about branding…it has been on my mind a lot lately as i launch my own business, but i never thought about it from this perspective. i can’t wait to go re-evaluate everything now!

i love that you collect the lids, it is something i would definitely do! i collect quotes + sayings that inspire me so i am definitely going to be buying this tea now. i love the lids.
