It happened this week. That moment when my body and brain synced in realization that a seasonal change is underway. For me, it brought with it both a shiver and bit of glee.
You see, fall is my favorite time of year, and October a favorite month. There are reasons aplenty for this: They start with mugs of hot apple cider, follow country roads lined with trees aflame in hues of oranges, reds and yellows, incorporate a wedding anniversary (mine
), and end with the fun that is Halloween.
But a real reason I look forward to fall? Call it silly, but I can dig back into the ‘ol sweater collection. It’s a ritual I look forward to the way Christmas-aholics relish opening that first box of tinsel post-Thanksgiving.
Cardigans, cashmere turtlenecks, cabled knits. They’re all there on the closet shelf, waiting yet again for me to wrap myself in their warmth, get cozy on the couch with a good book, and remember why it is I love this season of winding down before the long months of winter set in.
