Time to wrap these vacation posts up with a bit of love — both for my family and the peace and tranquility that was our 4 days in Hilton Head.
First up, the view Nick and I woke up to every morning from the sliding screen door of our third floor bedroom’s balcony. NOTHING beats waking up to this sight or falling asleep to the lull of the ocean waves. NOTHING.

I know other photographers out there will nod their heads in agreement when I say that for this leg of the trip, I put the camera away for a lot of it. Just to BE — be present, be part of the moment, to remember the way I felt watching my husband build sandcastles with our nieces and nephews away from the viewfinder. But here are the snaps I did catch, thanks in large part to a mini-family photo session we crammed in on our last evening before a yummy dinner out for seafood. To the waitress who fed our boisterous family of 14, THANK YOU!
And just for the record, I retract what I said earlier, ’cause NOTHING beats family. NOTHING.

Thanks to Gina (that’s Nick’s younger (older) sister, in the photo above) for these photos of Nick and I

And a bit of fun with some night photography. The Werner sibs TOTALLY got into this
(Photographers, if you’ve never played around with sparklers, it’s so fun to ‘paint’ with light — settings: ISO 1600, f 8, 2 second exposure)

FAVORITE! (our place was the third on the left). Don’t the stars look AUH-MAZING here?
