Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

Salty sea love, Werner style

Time to wrap these vacation posts up with a bit of love — both for my family and the peace and tranquility that was our 4 days in Hilton Head.

First up, the view Nick and I woke up to every morning from the sliding screen door of our third floor bedroom’s balcony. NOTHING beats waking up to this sight or falling asleep to the lull of the ocean waves. NOTHING.

I know other photographers out there will nod their heads in agreement when I say that for this leg of the trip, I put the camera away for a lot of it. Just to BE — be present, be part of the moment, to remember the way I felt watching my husband build sandcastles with our nieces and nephews away from the viewfinder. But here are the snaps I did catch, thanks in large part to a mini-family photo session we crammed in on our last evening before a yummy dinner out for seafood. To the waitress who fed our boisterous family of 14, THANK YOU! :)

And just for the record, I retract what I said earlier, ’cause NOTHING beats family. NOTHING.

And a bit of fun with some night photography. The Werner sibs TOTALLY got into this :) (Photographers, if you’ve never played around with sparklers, it’s so fun to ‘paint’ with light — settings: ISO 1600, f 8, 2 second exposure)

HILTONHEAD

FAVORITE! (our place was the third on the left). Don’t the stars look AUH-MAZING here?

September 21, 2009 - 9:26 pm Laura - I LOVE Hilton Head! Growing up, I got to spend every summer in a house in Palmetto Dunes, and I really miss my time there. Which plantation did you stay in? Fantastic pics!

September 21, 2009 - 9:28 pm joy - I wanna go on vacation NOW! With the Werner family! I love them all, but the family group pics are great. And is this John and Marilyn's debut on the blog? Hello Werners! (Yes, I've become a family stalker, but only in the best way I promise! I don't bite!)

September 21, 2009 - 10:47 pm Betsy and John - Holy cow girl, can you adopt me!?!?! These are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

September 22, 2009 - 7:02 am j.ro - next year i will be stowing myself away in your trunk! these are beautiful. beautiful family. beautiful ocean. beautiful sunrise. beautiful stars!

September 22, 2009 - 7:38 am Dennis Bullock - Gail! We went to HHI this summer for our vacation. It was our second time and it is such an amazing place isnt it! Wonderful images....

September 22, 2009 - 8:34 am Erin - so great to see more of your photos from vacay...i need to take some lessons from you, seriously. maybe YOU should hold something like a 2day. :) it's wonderful to see your 'second family', as well - it's been forever! those kids are such cutie patooties!

September 22, 2009 - 9:08 am Ryan Burton - Nice shots. The overexposed, "blown out," look was the perfect choice for this set. We miss you guys and would love to spend some time together. Tell Nick that I dig his hair, very "MadMen" of him.

September 22, 2009 - 12:45 pm SB - Whoa, I dig the hair too! See what I mean? JON HAMM! The bubble! You guys should totally go as Mad Men for Halloween. Me and Billy wanted to be the Hiphopapotomous and the Rhymenoceros for Halloween, but I think the masks are going to be the sticking point. ANYWAY! Great shots, and glad you got to play with night photography! Clay is looking good (haven't seen him in years!) and his wife and kids are so pretty! And the one guy kind of looks like Ian ... it's not, right? But it has to be, right? I'm so confused over here. :)

September 22, 2009 - 4:01 pm Susan Solo - Ooo, Gail! These are beautiful, and making me miss summer a little already. Happy first day of fall to you though!

September 23, 2009 - 7:24 pm Ellen - Pics are great! Glad you guys had fun!
