To say I’ve been counting down the days to the launch of this new blog and my new website would be like saying the Pope is kinda religious. Or that Richard Simons kinda likes spandex shorts. In other words — for me — THIS IS A REALLY BIG DEAL AND I’M SOOOO GLAD YOU’VE STOPPED BY!!! There … now that we’ve got THAT out of the way!
For all you regulars from the old blog, don’t forget to add www.gailwernerblog.com to your RSS feeds ’cause from here on out, I promise to keep this bloggity blog a hip, happenin’ place to visit! Now that I’ve established myself as a giant dork, let’s move on to the family gracing this inaugural post that is SO SO SO dear to me! It’s THE KING FAMILY!!!!! WOO HOO!!!
To the unfamiliar, Betsy is not only a dear friend, but talented photographer who specializes in senior portraits and lives in Fort Wayne (where I grew up). The two of us are like peas and carrots and I don’t know how I would have survived with sanity intact during this whole rebranding effort without her friendship, support and encouragement (Lord knows she answered enough emails from me with the subject line, “Soooo … what do you think of THIS font?”)
She also has the SWEETEST hubby (John) and HAPPIEST little guy (Miles) and earlier this month, I had the good fortune to document the three Kings in a fabulous location Betsy scouted out for us — an apple orchard! Betsy, I had a blast with you guys and I hope we can make this an annual event. Photographers are the WORST at following through with getting their own family portraits taken, so it’s always great to help a friend out in that department! And if you want to see MORE of their adorableness (and seriously, who doesn’t?!), then make sure to hit up the SLIDESHOW!
We started the afternoon off capturing photos of Betsy doin’ her own thing (photographers, having someone help you with images for promotional purposes is SO important! The photos of me on this blog? Yep, Betsy took ‘em
) Bets, here’s to paying back the favor!

LOVE this one! If you know Bets, you know she has the best smile and laugh (am I right, John?
)

And if you know her, you also know that Betsy’s eyes literally light up when her little Miles makes an appearance. I’m SO happy I caught this sequence — I told Bets she needs to frame these somewhere! How sweet!

Pssshhhhh… these guys SO need to try harder at being photogenic

Trying to chase a two-year-old through an apple orchard to take a picture IN FOCUS is like trying to find a needle in a haystack or ____ (feel free to insert your own cliche comparison here)

FAVORITE family photo!

So Betsy has these great light yellow walls in her kitchen (and soon to be bathroom!) and I just gotta say that I think these next few images (besides being TOO CUTE) are MUST-HAVE prints for at least one of those walls!

I’m sorry. One more – I just can’t help it! (Betsy, I see why this tot is ALL OVER your blog – I’d be a proud mama if he was mine too!) I gotta say folks, this kid is SMART too. When Betsy asked him his favorite book, he said matter-of-factly, “Corduroy the Bear by Don Freeman.” WHAT TWO YEAR DOES THAT?!

And a few of his fab parents too (when kids come in the picture, I think it’s even MORE important for couples to get photos of themselves BY themselves).

Thanks again King family! And folks, if you like the new look and what you see here — especially if you’ve never done so before — pretty (pretty!) please leave a comment! I’d love to hear from ya!
