Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

What I’m Lovin’: February 2012

1) The Vow: I’m a sucker every February for the chick flick that becomes the flavor of this Valentine lovin’ month. And while I’d heard from some people who left the theater unsatisfied with The Vow, I have to say, it was the best chick flick I’d seen in a looonngg time. A story based on real life (a couple in a car accident; she loses her memory and has to fall back in love with her husband), it really tugged at my heart strings. Oh, and lordy, HOW have I not noticed Channing Tatum before now? Whew….he’s got all the right stuff going on in this film. If you missed it in theaters, definitely rent it and park yourself on the couch with a tub of ice cream for a nice girl’s night.

2) The Fault in our Stars by John Green and 3) Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand: What a month for great reads for me. First off was Indianapolis author John Green’s newest, “The Fault in our Stars.” In my opinion, Green is one of the best writers in the biz today and while he writes young adult (YA), every adult should be picking up a book with heart like “Fault.” Augustus and Hazel are two teens trying to navigate cancer as they’re falling in love—you’ll be a weepy mess by the end but better for having picked it up, I promise. As for “Unbroken,” this was a book club pick and while I’d had lots of folks tell me to read it over the past year, I just don’t read much non-fiction and never gave it a chance. SO glad I did this month, as I couldn’t put the book down once I started. The amazing life of a World War II soldier who first gets lost at sea before becoming a Japanese prisoner of war … so much life to Louis Zamperini and I was truly humbled by his story. For more extensive reviews of both these books, check out my GoodReads profile.

4) Bringing in the Darlings EP—Josh Ritter: Josh Ritter is hands-down my FAVORITE singer-songwriter in the music industry today. I wish more people knew of him and his beautiful lyrics and voice, so any chance I can to trumpet his talent, I do. His new EP came out the day after my birthday and I had to indulge in a belated gift kind of way ;) For a taste of his soothing sound, check out this GORGEOUS music video made from 12,000 pieces of construction paper!

5) Kiwi: And finally, the fruit I CANNOT get enough of this month! Ever go through phases with food? I’m sure in a few more weeks, I won’t be able to look at a kiwi, but right now, they (and grapefruit) have been my go-to fruits for the month of February. After the gluttony that was all that cake for my birthday, it’s probably a good thing I’m getting my sweet fix this way now!

February 28, 2012 - 11:56 pm Clary - Such a lovely list and I'm so glad you brought up Josh Ritter! I had no idea he had new music out.

February 29, 2012 - 12:27 pm Abby Hacker - Ok, I haven't seen The Vow yet, but I did see an early screening of 21 Jump street and Channing is in that too...yummy :) (maybe even more so than kiwi!)

March 1, 2012 - 10:41 am Ryan B - Gail, Amber's grandfather is mentioned in the book "Unbroken." His name is Edgar Whitcomb. He was a POW who escaped from the island of Corregidor and went on to become a lawyer, author, Governor of Indiana, and he sailed around the world solo in a 30ft sailboat. He's a pretty amazing guy and it was really cool to stumble upon his name in this book.
