Gail Werner Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Gail Werner is a central Indiana wedding and portrait photographer.
Here’s where she tells you she likes the feel of the ocean and the
taste of champagne. Oh wait …

Truth is, she does love the ocean (when she can make it to a
coast!), but what she loves more is documenting the lives of her
clients — big days, little moments, they all carry meaning and deserve
to be captured.

This blog is where Gail shares her current client work and don’t be
surprised to find plenty of personal antecedotes on here as well.
Because when it comes to her life, Gail’s pretty much an open book. And
speaking of books, well, she loves those too. And her husband. And her
dog. So stick around and find out what else she likes or head over to www.gailwernerphoto.com to take a peek at her portfolio. Want to get a hold of her? E-mail Gail at gail@gailwernerphoto.com.

And just for the record, Gail also likes pina coladas but draws the line at getting caught in the rain.

Gail Werner is available for travel to any location.

What I’m Lovin’ Round-up: Take 7

1) My gladiator sandals: I’m milking this whole “When we were in Europe…” intro to conversations for as long as I can (and feeling like an expiration date is approaching), so let me just say, when we were in Europe, I fell in love with and had to buy this pair of sandals. The sandals worn on the feet of European women? Yeah, YOU CAN’T FIND ‘EM HERE. Believe me, I’ve tried. I could have bought and filled another suitcase with all the shoes I fell in love with there, but it feels special having come home with this one pair. Which I hope I can wear for the next 10 years to continue the streak of nonchalantly being all, “Oh, these? Well, you know, I bought them in Paris.”And BTW, if European women are still rocking gladiator sandals, well, I figure I’ve got at least three more years’ worth of mileage on the trend here in the states. Right? :)

2) Inception: Nick and I saw this film on a double date this week and IT BLEW MY MIND. No really, I felt like I had to pick up the bits that were left after we saw it. It was THAT confusing, that complex, but also, that amazing. We talked/argued/talked and argued some more for about an hour post-viewing on all the loop holes that make up this film, but I love Christopher Nolan and love slipping into a movie where I have to think for a change. Which, I can assure you, doesn’t happen much with a viewing of, say, Eclipse. Unless I’m thinking of how much I’d like to see Edward with his shirt off for a change.

3) Frommer’s Day by Day guidebooks: If you’ve ever traveled with me, you know I don’t leave the house without one of these guides (which happen to fit oh so nicely in a pocket of a ShootSac). All the smart phones in the world can’t replicate the simplicity of a well-made pocket guide and I think Frommer’s are the best (full disclosure here: I occasionally do a bit of copyediting for the company). Check to see if the next city you visit has one in stock and I promise it’ll be the best $13 you spend the whole trip! (Unless you’re in Europe, in which case, it will be that hazelnut gelato you had in Rome).

4) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series: I won’t be able to think of this vacation without thinking of how I devoured the three books in this series in all the downtime we had in airports, train stations and hotels along the way. I’m not usually up for books heavy on violence and crime, but curiosity got to me with these novels by Stieg Larsson and I’m so glad it did. I just couldn’t put ‘em down. If you’re looking for a fast-paced read with one of the most intriguing heroines in contemporary fiction, I highly recommend.

5) Nutella: One more time before I become a giant pain-in-the-you-know-what with this, but when we were in Europe (cringe), Nick and I developed a unhealthy obsession with Nutella. They love this spread over there the way we Americans love our peanut butter. But you know what? NUTELLA IS SOOO MUCH BETTER. Since we’ve been back, Nick and I have put this stuff on croissants, bagels, toast, waffles, bananas …basically anything edible in our kitchen. As he stood there with the jar, Nick paused mid-lick to ask the (very good) question of “How come it took us so long to discover this goodness?!!” To which I couldn’t help but agree. It’s seriously that yummy. Don’t believe me? Grab a slice of bread and give it a try.

July 29, 2010 - 7:32 pm Kelsey Bigelow - OH I am with you on the Nutella front. When I was 10, my cousins lived in Germany because my uncle was stationed on base. They ate Nutella ALL.THE.TIME but I was like "What is this weird stuff?" Then I ate some and it was AMAZING. So now I'm obsessed with it!

July 29, 2010 - 7:35 pm Betsy Jo - The nutella part made me smile. We made the mistake of introducing our daughter to it when she was 2 or 3-- and she's been hooked ever since. No wonder, right? Welcome home-- 'so thrilled you had a great trip to Europe!

July 29, 2010 - 7:56 pm Clary - My dream is to open a Nutella store just like the one in Frankfurt. You can Nick can be my first customers:)

July 29, 2010 - 7:57 pm kasey - Don't you dare cringe at 'when we were in Europe!' I would be dropping that line as often as I could possibly fit it in! And I would toss my hair over my shoulder and lean in when I said it so people thought I was way too cool for them :)

July 29, 2010 - 7:59 pm julianna - I could eat Nutella for evry meal .... and inbetween by the spoonful :)

July 30, 2010 - 6:01 am Amber - Ohhhh Nutella! Try it on Saltine crackers for a snack. Yum-o!

July 30, 2010 - 2:18 pm Ally - Nutella is so good. I got a little obsessed with it about four years ago and had it on EVERYTHING. Inception was surprisingly entertaining. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, was really just trying to beat the heat, but it really kept me on the edge of my seat!

July 30, 2010 - 5:29 pm donya - Ooooh, I really want to see Inception! I keep hearing so many good things. I'm sure it will annoy the crap out of me figuring it all out, but I love movies that make you think.

August 2, 2010 - 3:30 am Sarah - Being from Germany I have had an obsession with Nutella for as long as I can remember. When I moved to Texas in Elementary school, I was the kid who always brought a sack lunch! And in this lunch? Always a nutella sandwich. Needless to say the other kids thought i was super wierd "what is that? a dirt sandwich, a poo sandwich" but i just smiled and thought to myself you will never know how good nutella really is...

August 2, 2010 - 1:56 pm Chris - I still say the "When we were in Europe/Italy/Paris/London..." :) I don't care if people hate it, I spent two weeks there darn it! You'll get to hear about it one "When we were in Europe/Italy/Paris/London..." at a time! LOL! And yes, Nutella? Amazing!

August 6, 2010 - 11:21 am Heather Corporan - Even better is a peanut butter and Nutella, or peanut butter/nutella and FLUFF sandwhich! YUM-O! We are all hooked on this stuff! If you have a Sams, Costco or BJ's out your way, you can get a very large tubo-nutella = longer lasting yum-o! : D
