just got the 50mm 1.4 and I am honestly kicking myself for not getting this before the last three events I have shot… stupid, stupid, stupid… it is a beautiful piece of glass, why did i wait so long to buy such an affordable lens??

I feel you! I bought the 85mm/1.2L in September, the 5D Mark ii in October, the 50mm/1.2L in November and the 35mm/1.4L a week before Christmas. Oops, I forgot the 3 pocketwizards and new softboxes. I am the happiest camper in the world even though I cringe each month when my American Express bill arrives. I justify it by thinking of all the miles I am accumulating. Ha!

I love my 35 1.4 too! It was just about all I used for Christmas and New Years with the family, and I’d dare say I take at least 60% of all my wedding photos with that lens too.

I’d also compare it to having a new (human) baby. You are a proud mama who wants to show it to everyone, you are extra careful to not bump it into things, you carefully watch others who are holding it, and you don’t put it down for the first few days. Congrats!

I coveted, drooled and hyperventilated over the 70-200L 2.8 IS. And I have never regretted ordering it. It is my absolutely favorite lens in the bag. Congrats on the new baby! Oh, and the 35mm? I’m eyeing it myself
