With a city by the name of Charleston.
We drove all night (did that Celine Dione lyric go through your head just now too?) to make it into Charleston utterly sleep-deprived last Thursday. But did that stop us from putting our tourist game faces on come Friday? No way, y’all. In the less than 24 hours we spent there, we ate gelato on the stairs of the Customs Building, toured Fort Sumter, ate seafood for lunch, took a carriage ride through the historic district followed by a foot tour during which Nick was all, “SERIOUSLY ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPH?!”, ate dinner at a hip bar on Broad Street, and over the course of the evening cemented MAJOR crushes on this place.
And y’all should know that during this trip, Nick and I *might* have taken a fancy to using the word “y’all”. As in, y’all should REALLY pay this city a visit. It’s totally enchanting and I couldn’t resist sharing some of the snaps that I took before we collapsed into a big giant bed in a beautiful old hotel by the bay. I think if there was ONE place in the South I could covet owning a home, Charleston would be it.

I’m a detail-picture-taking fool!
And there was PLENTY to indulge this side of me here!

In its own way, Charleston had a little European vibe going on. All the more reason I fell hard for it!

We had an awesome tour guide for our carriage ride named Al who had the BEST Southern drawl (can you see his head poking out of that Confederate cap in the background?) This here is his horse, Buck.

Self-timed shot of the hubby and me … (and an important reminder not to judge in the looks department as we’d been up about 48 hours straight at this point – HA!) If you’re a photographer like me who loves colorful, urban backdrops, well, you might want to contemplate moving to Charleston ’cause you’d be in heaven!

Speaking of moving to Charleston, Nick and I were dreaming of such thing ourselves until Al reminded of us of just HOW FRIGGIN’ EXPENSIVE IT IS to live here. See this garage here? All yours for the whoppin’ price of $275,000. People, you could maybe park a Mini Cooper in this thing!

A shot down Broad Street in the gorgeous evening light we enjoyed. As Al told us, Broad Street is the dividing line of historic Charleston between the “haves” and “have mores”. If you live south of it, you’re an S.O.B. (for South of Broad). If you live to the north, you’re a S.N.O.B. (for Slightly North Of Broad). Either title is a sought-after distinction apparently!

Plenty more vacation photos coming up (yep, I told you I share business with pleasure on here!) Post-Charleston we paid a visit to a plantation (they filmed part of The Notebook there y’all!
), took a whirlwind trip through Savannah and hit up the beach with my husband’s family and it was so much fun. Trying to get back into the swing of things now, so if I’ve left you hanging on an e-mail or voice message, I promise I’ll get back to you soon!
